I haven't done shit shit shit in so long. I took a Ray's trip 3 weeks ago which was rad because we basically had the park to ourselves but my health took a dump and died all the way through christmas and then some. Despite my sick ways I cornholed this semester pretty good and pulled down better than average grades. Graduate in May, pass my state board exam so I can practice physical therapy and then adventure/live in my car until I find a city that's worth living in. All I rode this summer was the park......no trails, no street, only tire slides and turn downs.

Wanna know what's fucked? I still haven't seen Anthem II. I guess the animation prowess of David Firth and Brad Neely will have to do in the mean time.

So there may be hope yet for trails near by this summer. I can't say where/when/how but I'm hoping it's not too good to be true.

Anyway, here's some pictures that Mike Cottle took a while back when he was living the life in PA last summer/fall.

This first picture is from PTT. That place was rad and I only got to ride there once. I had a blast despite having explosive diarrhea throughout the night and during my morning classes beforehand.

I'm pretty sure that that's the only real picture I have of some riding going down on the last hip at the DP. Bill Brown filmed some stuff with me over the summer but I haven't talked to him in many moons, so who knows when that footage will see the light of day.

Mike and I took some more pictures that day and I'm sure he's got them saved somewhere. Good fucking times I reckon.

My name is Dan Simpson and I'm from Indiana, PA and I have a serious problem with the most recent post on deluxebmx.com. The picture of the trails posted below Hunter's bike are not his, Nate's, on Nate's private land or any combination thereof. They are my old trails called The Deer Path. I had ran a blog about them for a while earlier this year before I got kicked off the land by the owner. Seeing as how I did 95% of the work at that spot, I can't in good faith let somebody else take credit for all of the hard work I did. Hunter may have only helped me 2-3 times and Nate never did this past year and he has NO right to call them HIS or Nate's trails. It's ridiculous, that's not even a picture of Nate's land and his spot looks nothing like my trails. I see no difference between this and plagiarism. They are NOT his trails, I repeat: NOT HIS. The photo on your website is one that Hunter took with his phone this past fall after I had long given up on trying to negotiate with the land owner. I would appreciate it if you would delete the picture of my trails from your website. My trails have nothing to do with his bike. Perhaps editing the caption would be another good idea as well. This isn't the 1st time Hunter has tried to pass off my spot as his own. Brian Gumny has sent you pictures of his bike and trails.......well, those 2 work together and Hunter tried to convince Brian that those were the trails at Nate's house. So, you aren't he only one who was fooled by this pathological liar.

All I ask his that the photo be taken down. I don't care how you handle everything else, if you want to make a post calling him out, fine. An email letting him know what he did wasn't right would work as well. Believe me, I will be calling him very shortly and letting him know what he did was fucking bullshit. Taking credit for someone's digging IS NOT ok. That basically undermines everything trail rider stands for. I apologize for the long winded email but I'm literally shaking with anger. well well well, the spot hunting went better than expected this evening. so i checked out the other woods near my house and i found more potential spots than i could shake my dick at. lots of space for big dubs and tasty berms. the only problem is that there are a of 4-wheeler and ATV trails throughout much of the woods. but, i did find a gem of a spot away from the paths and hidden under some brush and large trees. the hill is for sure steeper than that of the Deer Path and i'm pretty sure i'm going to encounter some rocks in the dirt(still LOTS of good clay though). i now know just how spoiled i was at the DP with the type of dirt i had.

the good thing is you'll be able to get going faster quicker with how steep the hill is. ALSO, there's a spot were water collects in a tiny pond/huge puddle down the hill from the new spot. i plan on digging it as deep as i can so it fills up for future use. another con is that there have definately been people at this place. there's an old rickety ladder leading up to a homemade tree stand. but it's so fucked and weathered that i doubt anybody has been back there in the past 2 or 3 years.

as far as who owns the land.........who knows. all i know is that it isn't posted with tresspassing signs so i guess i'm taking another chance.

tomorrow i start the search for a new spot. i've got a few places in mind near my house again. the one is guaranteed to be safer but i'm worried about the soil being rocky and hard to dig with. i haven't been there since i was a kid so it'll be fun to see how much the trees/plants have changed.

the other spot looks awesome from the road.......but that's the bad part. there are streets and houses surrounding the plot of woods and i'm almost positive someone would own something like that.

i'm super excited about starting a new spot. the only thing that sucks is that i'll still be digging alone. my plan is to get a really good amount done this fall until the cold becomes too shitty. things like clearing brush, planning a line or two, moving my shovels, stocking up on tarps/carpet, digging out the flat bottoms and piling the dirt. what with school, jiu jitsu and actual riding i don't plan on having the time to shape stuff and get it running, i'm just planning ahead for next spring. that way i'll have enough dirt in piles to shape come march.

so the land owner showed up at the trails today.......

he was pretty impressed by the "engineering" of the trails but was not psyched on liability issues. he told me he'll give me a call after he talks to his attorney. it's kind of a bullshit situation considering there are no posted or trespassing signs on his land. people ride quads, play paintball, and hunt back there. if someone rolled their 4 wheeler or shot their eyes out he'd be in just as trouble if i get fucked up at the trails.

i guess what i'm trying to say is that if he's worried about injuries, i shouldn't be the only one getting kicked off of that land. out of all of those activities happening in the woods, bmx is the least of his worries.

after a son of a bitchin' heat wave in the north east, it's cooled down and started raining again. i only have 1 week left of freedom before i start working again so it's crunch time! i have a few things i really want to get stacked and shaped before june. i guess we'll have 1 full line + 2 cut offs/option lines. considering over half of the stuff is brand new that's not bad for the few dedicated souls that dig at the DP.

more dinosaur valley visitations on the horizon as well.......

so yesterday mr. j scott came to hang out, ride, and do a little digging at the deer path. it's a good time having him around. he gave us some constructive criticism that was well needed. having a fresh set of eyes and tires on your home turf can really help sort out anything that's overly hard or difficult to ride.

moving on to today, i returned the favor and headed out to the trails that he calls home, Dinosaur Valley. it's definitely one of the more underrated spots........ hell, unknown spots in the area. i met his buddies Jack and Brian who are both solid dudes. we busted earth on a few things and rode for a bit as well. a few jumps in 2 lines(swervin' Irvin, and i can't remember the name for the other one) were running and it felt pretty solid. i ended up ringing my bell pretty damn good so we pretty much called it a day after that.

he digs solo quite a bit and has a lot of awesome stuff that just needs a little bit of work to get running. i really hope he can recruit a couple more solid diggers because his spot could be unreal in a short amount of time.

so another day spent in the woods and a good one it was. the day started with myself and tuba barnes digging the dirt. joel p showed up with a pair of LEAD knuckles he found on his way home from the bar. we laughed about how bad you could ruin someone's face with them. shea showed up in the early PM with his camera and again more dirt was dug. also, bikes were ridden and pictures were taken!

that's right ladies and germs. it's been snowing for the last couple of days! i did infact dig today in a blizzard. it was equal parts awesome and suck at the same time. awesome because i got shit done, and it sucked because it was cold as a bastard.

anywho, i'm pretty psyched on this site. it's sort of like a global trail collective/club. mostly it's guys from the UK but i believe there's a dude that blogs on that site out of new zealand. definitely worth a look.

another solo day at the trails. i didn't get a lot done on the digging front besides moving some dirt for a new lip. however, i some how managed to jump everything that's been shaped/finished. i even sunk in an inch on all of the softer new stuff and still managed to push over everything. i'm pretty psyched for this summer.

i put in a full-ass day today.........but i had help along the way! pomparatzi, tuba tom, evan, hunter, and shea came out and did some digging for a few hours and it was rad as a motherfather. it's definitely awesome not having to dig alone. the rain from last night was exactly what we needed. steady, and moderate for over 7 hours. the digging was nice today.

it's weird, so far that's only the 2nd time there's been any measurable amount of rain here in western, PA in the month of march. usually it rains every two days and we're always in flood warnings. shit was fucked, all crumbly, and dried out, i literally couldn't work on anything standing from last year. mother nature's puss was dried up to say the least. she's wet now, so more digging tomorrow! talks of a new line?
